I am an experienced science management professional with a PhD in hydrobiology and a high level of understanding of the European and wider marine and maritime landscape, with more than 25 years of experience working in multiple roles related to marine knowledge, including marine research, scientific project and programme management, knowledge exchange and stakeholder dialogue, facilitator and coordinator of marine policy foresight, etc. I am experienced in scientific writing and review, building strategic and effective partnerships, and working with diverse stakeholders, including science, policy and the general public.

My research combined biological and physical oceanography, integrating traditional ship-based measurements and laboratory analysis with autonomous measuring and sampling platform data. I have coordinated Estonia's national open sea monitoring program and developed national and Baltic Sea-wide oceanographic measurement programmes. I established a Marine Ecology lab at the Tallinn University of Technology, served as the EuroGOOS Secretary General, chaired the Steering Group of the European Ocean Observing System (EOOS), and am an advisory board member of FINMARI, SOOP and OTN.
