Decadal changes in dissolved oxygen in Arctic water masses, especially Pacific Winter Water (PWW) and Atlantic Water (AW)
Linking oxygen and nutrient patterns to larger-scale processes such as Beaufort Gyre circulation, the Arctic Oscillation, and ocean acidification.
Framing these biogeochemical shifts in the context of climate change and upstream water mass transformations.
Fieldwork & Sampling: Extensive Arctic research experience aboard icebreakers (e.g., USCGC Healy), including CTD operations, Winkler titrations, and nutrient sampling.
Data Processing & Analysis: Advanced Python workflows (xarray, pandas, gsw, matplotlib, cartopy) for CTD/bottle datasets, seawater property calculations (SA, CT, AOU, O₂ saturation), and multi-decadal comparisons.
Biogeochemical Expertise: Specialization in dissolved oxygen, nutrients, and water mass dynamics (Pacific Winter Water, Atlantic Water) in the Canada and Makarov Basins.
Scientific Communication: ability to write peer-reviewed manuscripts, conference abstracts, and thesis work; skilled in producing high-quality visualizations and figures for publication.
Outreach & Leadership: Experience in science communication (talks, children’s educational materials), graduate student leadership roles, and engagement with international collaborations.
