Serves as a  specialist member to the
IUCN World Commission on Environmental Law.


Nationally, I have served as a resource person to various government
agencies in environmental governance including –


1.           
The development of the recent
Access to Biological Resources and Benefit Sharing Act, 2017.


2.           
Appointed to head the National
Technical Working Committee on Seabed and Deep Seabed Mining Legal Framework by
the Department of Minerals and Geoscience.


3.           
Resource person to the
Department of Maritime Affairs of Wisma Putra, for the PrepCom meeting to
negotiate on matters relating to Marine Biodiversity beyond National
Jurisdiction (BBNJ) at the UN, and the then MOSTI for the IOC (International
Oceanographic Commission)-UNESCO Executive Council Meeting in Paris.


4.           
Serving
as a national task force member on sea turtle conservation.


5.           
Headed the formulation of the
National Oceanography Strategic Plan 2018-2027 under the then Ministry of
Science Technology and Innovation


6.           
Represented
Malaysia at the 15th Meeting of the United Nation Open-ended
Informal Consultative Process on Oceans and Law of the Sea (UNICPOLOS) at the
UN HQ to speak on sustainable seafood.


At the local and state level, my current work on the drafting and proposed implementation of the Terengganu
Coastal and Marine Spatial Planning (with the Terengganu State Government,
WWF-Malaysia, PLANMalaysia Terengganu and the American National Oceanic and
Atmospheric Administration).
