-The mission of the Waikiki Aquarium is to help people of all ages to understand, love, care for and work to protect the life of the ocean through a commitement to excellence in educational and entertaining experiences, research and conservation.-Our focus is on education providing community and school-based programs to 30,000 students, adults, families and others annually helping them gain a better understanding and appreciation of the ocean. Our exhibits focus on the marine life of Hawaii and the tropical Pacific ranging from the endangered Hawaiian monk seal, to sharks, giant clams, living corals, nautilus, reef fishes and more. Research efforts have focused on the embryology of nautilus, aquaculture of mahimahi, tiger shark biology, monk seal physiology, and coral farming.
