1. Sample collection and preparation
- Preserve
and label collected samples appropriately to prevent degradation or
contamination - Follow
established protocols for sampling different marine environments, such as
coastal areas, open oceans, estuaries, and aquaculture facilities - Gather and organize equipment and
materials needed for sample collection like water, sediment, plankton, fish, etc.
- Conduct
water quality tests including measurements of temperature, salinity, pH,
dissolved oxygen, and nutrient concentrations - Perform physical, chemical, and
biological analyses on collected samples. - Identify
and classify marine organisms using microscopes and taxonomic keys
Assistance
Assist senior staff and researchers in setting up and
conducting experiments related to marine techniques, fish behavior, or
environmental studies.

Maintenance
- Calibrate and maintain laboratory
equipment regularly to ensure accuracy and reliability of measurements. - Troubleshoot and perform basic repairs on equipment if issues arise.
- Keep inventory of supplies and reagents, and order replacements as needed.
