Online Oil Spill Advisory (OOSA) System

  Established Operational oil
  spill  advisory system for Indian Ocean
  which is used nationwide by Indian Coast Guard (ICG), officials of Ports &
  harbors, Maritime boards, Navy, shipping industry and other marine environmental
  stake holders.

  ·        
  Advised Indian Coast Guard, oil
  spill responders, and neighboring countries (Mauritius, Maldives, Srilanka) on
  30 spill events.
• 
  
  ·        
  Performed three-dimensional
  hydrodynamic coastal modeling using MIKE 3
• 
  
  ·        
  Conducted field experiments using
  Surface Velocity Program drifter to validate the model surface currents. Conducted
  rice husk drift prediction in collaboration with Offshore industries
• 
  
  ·        
  Conducted consultancy project in
  accessing the probable impact of the oil spill at Tarapur atomic power station,
  Maharashtra
• 
  
  ·        
  Participated, presented, and
  published full research articles in national and international conferences
  (India and abroad).

  Taught several sessions in oil spill
  modeling and trained the officials of ICG. Guided many post-graduate students
  at several universities for their thesis dissertation.
