I have been involved in various Aquaculture and Mariculture
activities with the goal of hatchery development and several attempts of
rearing various fish species. I have also been able to work on monitoring of
aquaculture and aquaponics activities. I have worked on algae culture and
Artemia processing and hatching for use in larvae, crustaceans and molluscs
feeding.
I have been involved in prawn and Rabbit fish hatchery development
and attended training on Milkfish hatchery development and maintenance.
I have also participated in research problem identification and
developing concepts and solutions. This
is followed by collecting, recording and analyzing data of different research
projects and preparing technical reports.
During
project operations, I have engaged in collecting, preparing, and managing
samples and specimens and safely disposing of them after use. This comes in handy with set up and
maintenance of laboratory and field research equipment as specified by the
requirements of the study and as advised by supervisors.
I have
also been privileged to work with various communities involved in fisheries
activities along the Kenyan coast in offering extension services. This has
involved trainings on best fish farming practices, monitoring of their
activities and upscaling their knowledge on business development.
I have been collecting research data from all the activities conducted and conducting analysis for decision making and record keeping.
