I am a marine biologist and Scientific Director of immersive experiences at the University of Valparaíso, Chile. My research focuses on the taxonomy, ecology, and biology of marine algae, as well as on ocean literacy and science communication. Since 2012, I have been Editor of the Revista de Biología Marina y Oceanografía and have led initiatives that combine marine science, education, and digital technologies to engage society with the ocean. I represent Chile in the IOC-UNESCO Group of Experts on Ocean Literacy and currently serve as President of the Chilean Society of Marine Sciences. My work bridges research, education, and community outreach to promote sustainability and the conservation of marine ecosystems.
