Activities
- Designing
and Planning of the Bathymetric Surveys of the National Charting Program
and other survey activities liaised with professionals and departments. - Analyzing
survey objectives and specifications in order to prepare survey proposals
and to direct others in survey proposal preparation. - Conducting
Hydrographic and Geophysical surveys including sea bed topography,
classification and depth in support of tasks including navigation, dredging,
coastal engineering, port constructions, fish farming using single beam, multi
beam transducers and Side Scan Sonar(SSS). - Acquiring
and Processing Bathymetry Survey Data using HYPACK, HYDROpro, PDS 2000
software and Visualization using GIS, Auto Cad and civil 3D software. - Schedule
Survey Tasks to maintain the progress of the projects by compiling and
evaluating data, interpreting codes of practice, and writing reports
concerning survey measurement, demarcation of sea area, use and tenure. - Engage
with the field work done for research and development programs related to
Bathymetric Surveying, Tide and Coastal Erosion. - Installation,
Calibration and Operation of GNSS and Motion Reference Positioning
equipment. - Acquiring
and Processing of data through the use of Real-Time Kinematic Global
Positioning System (GPS) receivers, Sound Velocity Profilers (SVP) and
Electronic Tide Gauges. - Provides
Technical Support for assuring the integrity and reliability of
Bathymetric Survey Equipment including Installation and Calibration of
equipment, Finding technical solutions when equipment failures and system
malfunctions. - Maintenance of the log of daily activities
and documentation including field notes, onboard survey line reports and
drawings. - Supervising
and Coordinating the work of Cartographic Technicians in the productions
and reproduction of maps and ENC. - Engage
with System Analyst to store and preserve collected data in the data base
of NHO according to Data Base Management Policy of NHO. - Assisting
the annual budget estimation process and quotation preparation of
projects. - Follow
and maintain the Safety Procedures for Hydrographic Surveyors and field
assistants onboard and on ground. - Representing
NARA for the consultancy service provided to the surveying works done in
Domestic Projects. - Onboard
RV “Samudrika” for deep sea surveys under the National Charting Program
(NCP) - Engage
for the work assigned to National Hydrographic Office (NHO) by National
Ocean Affairs Committee (NOAC) on continental shelf submission of Sri
Lanka to the United Nation Commission on the Limits of the Continental
Shelf (CLCS)
