·
Destructive
sampling techniques of benthic assemblages, including macroalgae, macrofauna
and meiofauna, both in intertidal and subtidal soft and hard bottoms.
·
Non-destructive
(visual estimation) sampling techniques of benthic assemblages, both in
intertidal and subtidal habitats.
·
Trial
and identification of macroalgae and marine invertebrates to species level.
·
Measure
and calculate of environmental variables relevant for the study of benthic
assemblages such as grain size, organic matter and sorting coefficient of
sediment or physical and chemical variables of the water column.
·
Evaluation
of macroalgal complexity using Imaging Software (e.g. ImageJ).
·
Planning
of sampling and experimental designs, to elucidate the role of environmental
variables and anthropogenic activities (e.g. pollution, invasive species,
global warming) in shaping patterns of benthic assemblages.
·
Univariate
(Analysis of Variance, ANOVA) and multivariate (Multivariate Analysis of
Variance based on Permutations, PERMANOVA; Metric- and Non-Metric Multi-Dimensional
Scaling, MDS and nMDS; Principal Coordinates Ordination, PCO) statistical
techniques.
·
Non-parametric
multivariate multiple regressions (DISTLM) and distance-based redundancy analysis
(dbRDA).
·
Writing
and graphics software (Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, Sigma Plot).
·
Software
used for management and statistical analysis of data (Excel, Statistica,
WinGMAV5, Primer, PERMANOVA, R programming).
Experience
with relevant laboratory equipment
·
Scanning
