Activities
Distribution and abundance research of large cetaceans, primarily bowhead whales (Balaena mysticetus), gray whales (Eschrichtius robustus), and beluga whales (Delphinapterus leucas) around Alaska. Bowhead whale studies have involved aerial photography, mostly for photo-identification of individuals. Gray whale studies have mostly been shore-based counts during migrations and tests of the counting systems. Beluga studies have focused on aerial surveys of Cook Inlet, Alaska.
