My research focuses
on the dynamics of plankton populations. The drivers that are
responsible for so many plankton species to coexist on so few
limiting resources, which was described as the “Paradox of
Plankton” (Hutchinson, 1961). To answer those questions I am using
computational experiments that focus on the competitive advantages of
each species along resource gradients. Also to better understand the
interactions between species, I am analyzing long time-series of
phytoplankton and zooplankton data from the region of the Aegean. I
develop the tools to perform my research by using open source
software (R programming language, GNU Fortran, Qt Octave).
