Activities

Dr. Andrea Polanco is a researcher from the Biodiversa foundation of Colombia, specialising in the fields of taxonomy, ecology, and zoogeography of fishes (Polanco et al., 2020). My profound expertise in these areas has empowered me to become a trusted authority in the monitoring of biodiversity through innovative methods such as environmental DNA (eDNA) analysis (Polanco et al. 2020). Over the recent years, I have actively embraced the cutting-edge environmental DNA monitoring technique, harnessing the synergy between my knowledge in fishes (Polanco et al., 2021, Mathon et al 2022). This unique combination of skills has positioned me to spearhead efforts in developing and refining methodologies for the effective application of eDNA analysis (Polanco et al. 202, Staufer et al. 2021), contributing significantly to the advancement of our understanding of aquatic ecosystems and the conservation of Colombia's rich biodiversity.
