Skills
- Ever since completion of academic qualifications in the year 1992, I am involved aactively in oceanographic studies under various projects in primer national organisations like National Institute of Oceanography(NIO), Goa and National Institute of Ocean TEchnology (NIOT), Chennai.
-I am conversant with most of the oceanographic data collection systems and implements (current meters, tide gauges, wave gauges, met-ocean sensors, etc) due to my hands-on-experience and field involvement under various project works.
-I have working knowldge in programming languages (Basic and Fortan), numerous software packages for modeling (MIKE, SMS, Q-LAB, CORMIX), Oceanographic analysis tools (SANDS, T-TIDE, C_TIDE, SEAVIEW, CODAR,MATLAB) and general purpose packages (AUTOCAD, MS OFFICE) and Statistical packages.
Some of major catagories of works that have been undertaken are :
- Tsunami early warning system
- Coastal observations (HF Radar, moored current meters, wave gauges, beach profilign)
- Deep water moorings for met-ocean observations
- Port Monitoring systems (Port of Pipavav, Dahej-Adani)
- 24-no. Observatory network around gulf of Khambhat, Gujarat coast, India
- I have completed more than 80 project campaigns with activities spanning right from proposal writing, budgeting the resources, planning the field campaigns, supervising the data collection, QA&QC and analysis of data, modeling and report generation.
- I have published/presented about 20 research papers in peer reviewed journals and conferences.
- I have successfully organsied four major conferences at NIOT during 2000-2011 period. The latest being the Bi-annual National conference of Ocean Soceity of India – OSICON-II.
- As part of my administrative assignments I have been serving under various capacities in the f following committees
- Internal procuerment committee, Stores verification comm, recruitment committee,………..
|
I am serving as a scientist-in-charge since 2009, for the "National Policy for Data Sharing and Accessibility" for NIOT under the Department of Science & Technology, Government of India and also have enough experience in data management, procedures for the exchange of observational data among oceanographic centres.
- Ability to interact and work within a multi-cultural environment and to work effectively in team to achieve organizational goals.
