The Antigua and Barbuda Meteorological Office started in the mid 1940's as a weather observation station manned by the British.
The station came under control of the Antigua and Barbuda government in 1965 and from there on developed into a forecasting office in 1967 primarily to facilitate the expanding aviation industry.
Today the Antigua and Barbuda meteorological Service is a fully functional National Meteorological Center providing services and performing several functions on a daily basis.
