The workshop aims to bring together in an informal environment researchers working on ichthyotoxic algae, to share experiences, ideas and approaches to tackling this under-studied problem. The overall goal is to identify research that will bring better understanding of, and, in turn, improved mitigation options for managing, ichthyotoxic algal problems. Participants include algal biologists, ?sh pathologists, algal toxin chemists, and aquaculture industry representatives. Speakers will give an overview of the occurrence and characteristics of ichthyotoxic algal problems from different parts of the world, and their views on current and emerging methods for studying the problem. The work¬shop will include presentations from speakers as well as round-table discussions, and is expected to identify knowledge-gaps and to facilitate interdisciplinary and international collaboration in the study of ichthyotoxic marine algae and their mitigation.
