Summary

The IOC Twenty-third Assembly decided, by Resolution XXIII-12, to create the Indian Ocean Tsunami Warning and Mitigation System (IOTWS) and to establish an Intergovernmental Coordination Group for IOTWS (ICG/IOTWS). The Seventh Session of the ICG/IOTWS will be hosted by the Government of Indonesia at Banda Aceh, 14 - 16 April 2010. Please refer to the "Local Information for Delegates" note in the Documents section for details of hotel accommodation arrangements and visa requirements. Details of domestic flight schedules are also provided. Tsunami Heritage Tour The Local Organising Committee will be arranging a half-day tsunami heritage tour for ICG/IOTWS-VII delegates on Saturday 17th April. The tour bus will depart from the Hermes Palace hotel at 8:00am and will return by 14:00pm. Airport transfer and check-in will be arranged for delegates departing that day. Places to be visited will include: tsunami museum, floating power station washed inshore by the tsunami, mass graveyard for tsunami victims, and Lhok Nga where a tsunami run-up of 35m was recorded. The tour is free of charge and lunch will be provided.
