The Intergovernmental Coordination Group for the Pacific Tsunami Warning and Mitigation System (ICG/PTWS), at its 24th Session from 24 to 27 May 2011 in Beijing, China, decided to continue the Regional Working Group on Tsunami Warning and Mitigation in the South China Sea, confirming as Chair Dr. Mohd Rosaidi bin Che Abas (Malaysia) and electing as Vice-Chair Dr Fujiang Yu (China). The Group will be composed of members nominated by Member States Brunei, Cambodia, China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam and invited experts. Following the offer of the Government of China at the Twenty-sixth Session of the IOC Assembly, 22 June–5 July 2011, UNESCO HQ, Paris, it is with great pleasure that I would like to announce the First meeting if the ICG/PTWS Regional Working Group on Tsunami Warning and Mitigation in the South China Sea Region (ICG/PTWS-WG SCS/I), 12-14 December, Sanya, Hainan Province, China. The venue of the meeting will be the Yuhai International Resort, close to the Sanya Phoenix International Airport.
