Building on the first and second World Museum Conferences held in Japan in 2017 and 2018, UNDRR will organize the Third World Tsunami Museum Conference as a virtual event from Geneva on 5 November from 10:00 – 11:00 CEST. The digital event will highlight the work of existing disaster museum experiences and promote the network of disaster museums in keeping the memory of past disasters alive. This year’s conference will focus on the importance of preserving memories of past disasters for educating future generations on tsunami risk and will demonstrate how museums and testimonies of survivors can raise awareness and educate more at-risk populations, particularly in light of COVID-19.
