The purpose of the meeting is to review progress in the development of the Coastal and Ocean Observing System for Africa, identify observing requirements that contribute to early warning systems for management of the human relationship to the environment at the coast, initiate regional cooperation in the development of an ocean observing and forecasting system, and review the governance structure of GOOS Africa.
